Airtel platinum plan blocked: Earlier this week, Airtel had launched its platinum plan where the users who pay a higher fee for postpaid plans can get preferential treatment if they signup for the said platinum plan.
In accordance with violating the service norms, The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has blocked the faster data and priority service offer- Airtel platinum plan.

Followed by Vodaphone Idea’s RedX premium plan which offers somewhat similar things over the fact of violating the service norms of preferring some users over others.
As this violates the norms and gives out preferential treatment to certain users only, the quality of service to the low paying fee-postpaid customers and prepaid customers is in question and hence it violates the codes and service norms as per TRAI.

To this, no statesman by the Airtel Ltd was made until the last moment, a spokesperson though didn’t say anything against Airtel platinum plan, but said that they will keep raising the bar for postpaid customers. Whereas, a statement from Vodaphone is still awaited.
Airtel platinum plan which was launched on July 6, 2020, offered a platinum plan to its postpaid customers who have a bill of more than Rs 499.

This plan is dedicated towards users who pay high so that they can get preferential treatment across stores as the first one to go. This is indeed discriminatory to the other users.
As per TRAI official, the reason behind the block other than violating service norms is that they haven’t specified the quantifiable parameter for what they would do for the other prepaid users.
