As per reports, The Border Roads Organization (BRO) built a new bridge after the old one named Bailey bridge collapsed on Saturday. The bridge was about 65 km away from Indo-China border, as per officials, BRO built a new one within 5 days in Munsiyari town of Pithoragarh.
It should be noted that the old bridge collapsed on June 22 because of an overloaded trailer that was carrying excavator tried to cross the bridge after BRO workers warn them. The new bridge has been made near the old one, it is used to carry ration for ITBP men near the border. Because of the damaged bridge, around 7000 villages living nearby were stuck.
Bridge collapsed near Indo-China border
According to the statement given by officials, the new bridge is 120 feet long and was constructed within five days after the old one collapsed. As per BRO official PK Rai, the new bridge has increased connectivity of 15 villages and people living near the area have started using it as well.
PK Rai also added that because of the bridge security personnel can also travel to posts easily in the Johar Valley area. When the bridge collapsed, construction was going on for another bridge. The driver who was driving the trailer has been booked for causing property damage and negligent driving.
