Emergency Strip coming up in Kashmir valley amid tensions between India and China

The National highway authority of India has started construction of an emergency strip in south Kashmir on Jammu Srinagar highway.  The total length of the airstrip will be 3.5 km and will use only exceptional cases between India and china

However, India and China already have a standoff at many strategic positions in the Ladak. Both countries acknowledge the requirement of peace in the region. They are holding talks at a different level to deflate the soaring conditions.

Both armies are engaged in a significant standoff for more than three weeks in Pangong Tso, Galway Valley, Daualtbeg, and Demchowk. It is the most prolonged standoff since Dokhlam.

The spokesperson of the foreign ministry of China Zhao Lijian said, “Now the situation there (at India-China border) is overall stable and controllable. China and India have full-fledged border-related mechanisms and communication channels. We can resolve the issue through dialogue and negotiation.

This strengthens the belief that peace will be maintained at the LAC.
