Garib Kalyan Yojna extended: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation today at 4 pm. In his speech, PM Modi talked about the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has affected the country. As per his speech, Garib Kalyan Yojna extended and will continue till November for the poor.
This was PM’s 6th speech since the coronavirus hit the country in March. PM addressed the nation today after May 12 when he announced the 20 lakh crore package with Finance Minister. However, PM did not mention anything about India and China’s violent face-off in his speech.
PM Modi: Garib Kalyan Yojna extended till November
Talking about Garib Kalyan Yojna, it has been extended till November, the scheme will provide benefits to 80 crore people who are in need till the month of November. According to the govt, every family will be given 1 Kg Chana and 5kg wheat or rice free of cost. BJP government is planning to spend Rs 90,000 crore on Garib Kalyan Yojna.
In his speech, PM Modi said COVID-19 has affected other countries more if we compare it with India. He added that people should follow the guidelines like wearing a mask and social distancing religiously. He also asked state governments to pay extra attention to containment zones as they have become negligent in Unlock 1.
