Skin cream ‘Fair & Lovely’ has been criticized by a lot of people because of ‘Fair’ in the name as it promotes negative stereotypes for darker skin tones. As per reports, Hindustan Unilever which is a brand and has millions of consumers recently decided to alter the name of the skin cream ‘Fair & Lovely’ and remove the word ‘Fair’.
The renowned brand Hindustan Unilever took to Twitter and shared the news where it said that it will remove all the words like fairness, whitening & lightening from all its products. The step has been taken by the brand in order to promote and celebrate the diversity of beauty of all skin tones.

As per reports, the new name of the cream Fair & Lovely has not been decided as the company is waiting for regulatory approvals. This is a good step taken by such a big brand and it will also influence people around the world to accept all the skin tones and not support the stereotype.
A few days back, matrimonial websites also removed the filter of fair or dark skin tone in order to support diversity as its unethical to judge people on their skin tone. Hindustan Unilever has taken a step forward to end racism and they are being praised for their decision on social media.
