According to reports, hundreds of people attended Karnataka Temple Festival in the Haveri district without masks violating the government order of social distancing. It should be noted that Karnataka Temple Festival is celebrated annually and this year people followed the same norm without considering coronavirus consequences.

Videos from the Karnataka Temple Festival have been leaked on social media and hundreds of people can be seen celebrating the festival without a mask and social distancing. In this festival, people worship lord Ramalingeshwara and a bullock cart procession is carried out.

However, the district administration has decided to report a case against the people who were involved and also the temple administration who gave permission to celebrate Karnataka Temple Festival in such crises.

As per the government’s order, people across the country were allowed to visit religious places, malls, and restaurants from June 9. In March the government imposed nationwide lockdown to stop the spread of deadly coronavirus.

As per the Karnataka government, people are not allowed to do daily rituals, religious fairs, and events. Meanwhile, Karanataka has around 6000 coronavirus cases and has reported 70 deaths so far.
