Jind: Four people were arrested on Saturday for assaulting a Dalit woman. The Dalit woman was taking water from a hand pump in Ramkali village. According to police, the four men arrested were identified as Sandeep Kumar, Ashish, Vikas, and Dashrath who belong to the same village.

The Dalit woman stated that the incident happened two days ago when four people caught her hand while she was taking water from the hand pump in the village. SHO Surender Singh said the incident happened on Thursday and FIR was registered yesterday when the woman approached the police.

4 men arrested for or assaulting Dalit woman

According to the statement recorded by police, the Dalit woman was stopped to fetch water and castist comments were passed by the four men. Later, the victim complained to the head of the village but no action was taken against the accused. However, the four men entered her house the next day and pelted stones. The victim’s husband works in Haryana Police and lodged a complaint on Friday.

The SHO asserted that all four men have been arrested under sections 354 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code. Police is investigating in the case and strict action will be taken against them as atrocities against Dalits is not accepted in any case.
