As per the latest reports, more than 100 people have died because of lightning and thunderstorm. Till now 24 deaths have been reported in several districts of Uttar Pradesh and 83 in Bihar due to the lightning incidents in the last 24 hours.
The death toll in Uttar Pradesh is less than Bihar where 83 people lost their lives within 24 hours. Apart from that, around 30 people were badly injured because of lightning and thunderstorms across Bihar.
After the news broke out, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and expressed his grief about the horrific incident. He also added that the state government has started conducting relief operations for the people affected by the lightning incident.

Apart from people, more than 15 cattle were liked in Bihar’s Khagaria district and there are also reports of destruction of property at large scale in various districts. Soon after the incident, Bihar Cheif Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his grief about the same and announced Rs 4 Lakh compensation and treatment to all the families affected by lightning and thunderstorms.
