According to Oxford University professor Sunetra Gupta, most people will not need the COVID-19 vaccine because coronavirus is just like the flu and healthy people can handle it easily. She also thinks that lockdowns will help to curb the spread of coronavirus but are not a long term solution.

The professor has been making headlines for opposing lockdowns, in her recent statement, she said COVID-19 vaccine should only be used for elderly people or to the most vulnerable ones. According to the professor, people should not worry about coronavirus as it has killed fewer people than influenza.

Oxford professor feels most people will not need Covid-19 Vaccine

Professor Gupta feels whenever the COVID-19 vaccine is made it should be used only by the vulnerable. As per her, coronavirus will end naturally and will eventually become a part of life just like influenza. She hopes that this pandemic kills fewer people than influenza and by the end of this summer COVID-19 vaccine could come into existence.

The professor said lockdowns are a sensible decision but they won’t be enough to keep the virus away for a long period. She also added the second wave of the virus in some countries is actually the first wave as there are countries where lockdowns were successful but the virus returned just after unlock.
