Last week, the Indian government banned Tik Tok and other 58 Chinese mobile apps followed by India and China’s violent face-off on June 15. The government decided to ban 59 Chinese apps to secure the data of Indian citizens which was used by China according to Indian intelligence agencies. The India-China standoff killed 20 Indian soldiers.
The banned apps include Tik Tok, ShareIt, WeChat, UC Browser, and others. It should be noted that Tik Tok had around 200 million Indian users and was one os the most popular apps in rural areas. Mitron is the best alternative for Tik Tok users. Recently, the app reached 1.7 crore mark after the Tik Tok was banned. It has also got a funding of Rs 2 Crore to improve the operations.
Chingari is another app that Indians have started using after the ban. As per reports, the app has crossed 10 million downloads on Google Play Store after which the company is planning to introduce a better interface.
Like Mitron and Chingari, this app has also got popular among Indians after the ban, and recently the app witnessed 22 million users within two days, it is available in 12 different languages.
ShareChat launched the app after the ban of Chinese apps and till now it has garnered 5 million downloads on Google Play Store. The app is available in 15 different languages Kanada, Bengali, and Gujarati.
Zee5 is planning to launch Tik Tok rival HiPi. The app has not been launched yet but the company claims that people can show their talent without being judged.
