As per reports, the Uttarakhand forest department has asked officials to involve RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh) members in plantation activities for the upcoming green festivals Van Mohatsav and Harela.
It should be noted that on the occasion of these two green festivals people across the state plant trees and for the same purpose RSS members will be involved.
This year, Van Mohatsav will be celebrated in the first week of July and Harela will be celebrated on July 16th. According to the Uttarakhand forest department, the involvement of the RSS organisation will make the campaign successful. Principal Chief Conservator of forests Jai Raj said RSS approached him saying they want to work for the forest department.

However, Jai Raj agreed and said people from all communities are allowed to join the plantation activities and later issued the order to officials. As per State forest minister Harak Singh Rawat, RSS already started the work back in March but later due to coronavirus the activities were stopped.
The forest minister has also asked local people to cooperate with the RSS members for their selfless service. However, Congress state vice-president Suryakant Dhasmana thinks it’s a political move by BJP government and plantation activities should be open for all why only RSS.
