Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan Trailer Review

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan Trailer: Ayushmann Khurrana returns once again after the resounding success of 2019, in the hilarious comedy Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. Though it sounds the same but is not a direct sequel of the movie, Hemant Kewalya has directed and written this expected hit movie of 2020. The script promises to combine all funny elements of the original with a take on the same-gender-love in today’s society.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan brings back the much talked about a trio of Badhaai Ho. Neena Gupta, with Gajraj Rao, both in titular comic roles of the parents, have given perfect justice to characters.
They are seen tackling with the news of their son (played by Jitendra Kumar) coming out as gay. Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan will hit the theatres on 21st February 2020. One may remember Jitendra Kumar from the YouTube comedy sensational group TVF (The Viral Fever), better known as Lovable Jeetu.

Ayushmann – at his dramatic best

The trailer starts right away with Ayushmann correcting the generic hesitant uncle to the use of the word “gay.” Each scene continues onwards with a comedy scene one after the other. With outrageously rib-tickling costumes and eye-watering innuendoes, the trailer shows the comedic struggle and misunderstanding of the homosocial human being.

The movie indicates that it is about Aman (Jitendra) and Kartik (Ayushmann) falling in love. The story is all about how their family rejects their passion and tries to get Kartik married to another girl.

Ayushmann being the lovelorn hero, tries to break the marriage. With train scenes and movie plots giving a déjà vu to the audience, it sure seems like a fantastic modern take on gay love in a Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) setting. The confusion and comedy that ensues in the trailer make for all the masala in a must-watch movie. Music Director – Tanishk Bagchi has provided various upbeat scores.

Punches – one after the other

The most looked forward moments are Neena Gupta’s winks on the “Pathakha” cases taken by the Supreme Court. Even Aayushmann comparing life in marriage to “Roadies” is a bulls-eye scene. Another scene depicts Gajraj Rao claiming that even run-of-the-mill “Gandi CDs” had the potential to make men gay.

Girls too drool over Ayushmann’s perfectly toned abs while shirtless on a rooftop with a gay-pride cape around his neck. However, the most eye-catching moment is the kiss scene between Ayushmann and Jitendra in the middle of the mandap. An iconic scene where they declare their love for each other to the rest of their family members.

The hilariously sincere love scene in Jitendra’s eyes does not let the audience feel the lack of Bhumi Pednekar from the previous movie. The fact that it’s not a direct sequel brings a breath of fresh air back to the comedy genre with limitless possibilities.

T-Series Films and Colour Yellow Productions have jointly produced the movie. They sure look like bringing back the same movie-magic-love of Tanu Weds Menu and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan back to this movie with all the funny elements and scenes unrepeated in the film industry before. They do all this with a message of undying homosexual love in a homophobic society without getting too serious about it.
