National Simplicity Day is celebrated to honour Henry David Thoreau who was born July 12th, 1817 in the US. Henry lived a simple life and influenced people to do the same as it creates fewer worries for human beings.
He was a famous American essayist, poet, philosopher, and transcendentalist. His philosophy of Civil disobedience was followed by notable figures including Mahatma Gandhi.
The significance of the day is quite simple, on this day people try not to use materialistic things and technology. They try to understand themselves and find happiness and peace within themselves which is the most important.
